My Story of Teaching
It's taken me four years to earn my degree here at UC, but I've never had to "earn" my passion and drive for the field of education. This experience has only affirmed that I have chosen the right path. This honors experience was led by my time student teaching in the Cincinnati Public Schools system. I've been with this third grade class since their first day in August, and it was with these students that I finalized my teaching philosophy and classroom management style. For me, this was quite a feat; classroom management has always been one of my weaker areas as a teacher and I've struggled with pinpointing a style that works best for me. But I now have a clear and effective style that I can defend to prospective employers. This experience also allowed me to work with my creativity and broaden the way that I express myself. I was able to create a sort of "virtual classroom" through a Prezi, which takes the audience through what I envision my ideal classroom to look like. These additional tasks of producing a clear philosophy on teaching, a concise management plan, and a vision for my classroom, have only enhanced my overall education and teaching experience while at college.
